CACOPHONIC CHOIR

Digital and mass media can empower oppressed people by providing them with platforms for sharing their stories, as we have seen in the #meToo movement. Participation on these platforms can, however, also expose the stories to doubt, distortion, and hostility. Cacophonic Choir is aimed at both reflecting these feelings of being overwhelmed, and encouraging people to step away from these arenas to listen to individual survivors’ accounts. While sexual violence is a systematic problem, the experiences of those who have survived it are all different and deserve to be heard.
